WSRT calibration problems
Hi, I am trying to reduce WSRT 92 cm data with miriad. I came across something peculiar. I have 4 calibrators, A,B,C,D. A and C are flux and leakage calibrators, B and D are polarization calibrators. C and D are more like backups in case A and B are bad. To test the calibration, I derived the gains ...

Can Miriad handle other Telescopes? and linmos question
Hi again, Can miriad *properly* handle Data from other telescopes? For Example, I did some tests with EVLA data. The imaging part seems to be correct, even for polarization, ie. the values of dirty images agree with both systems. But, if ones comes to primary beam correction... does miriad know the ...

Re: about Jy and Jy/beam
Hi Hui, Thats a good question... I always trusted the output of kvis and miriad... As Far as I know (and I might be wrong :)) you need your beam shape which is circular in an optimal case. If you then know your cell size (or pixel size), you can calculate how many pixels fit into your beam. So you w...

Re: uvglue having problems with nfiles>1000?
Hi Mark, Thank you, that was quick. In the meantime I noticed that one can get around this if uvglue is used 3 times, creating chunks with 683 channels each and then gluing the resulting datasets together. will the updated uvglue be available in the downloadable binary package of miriad or will I ha...

uvglue having problems with nfiles>1000?
Hello, and sorry for bothering you again :) Still working on my Cabb data, but now I've got a problem with uvglue. First, I used uvaver to split a dataset into 2049 different datasets, each containing exactly one channel with 1 MHz of bandwidht. After some work, I decided to put it back together and...

Hi Mark, Here are the uvgen parameters: source = $MIRCAT/qpoint_test.source ant = $MIRCAT/h168.ant baseunit = -51.0204 telescop = ATCA corr = 0,1,0,104 spectra = time = freq = 1.38 radec = 0,-50 harange = -6,6,0.01 ellim = 12 stokes = xx,yy,xy,yx polar = leakage = 2 zeeman = lat = -30 cycle = 0.1,0....

Casapy and miriad creating different results!?
Hello, I've got a problem, once again. I noticed that there is something wrong when I checked results of the cleaning of ATCA Cabb data. I tried it in miriad and casa. The first part, the initial calibration, of it was the same for both. I exported the miriad files to uvfits, imported it to casa, di...

Re: I dont understand this Immerge Error
Hi, I thought I wrote all necessary things. Okay, from the beginning. I got raw ATCA data, a mosaic of 18 pointings. I used miriad and (sorry for that) casa (because I got used to it) to calibrate and image the mosaic. I then converted the casa image to a fits file. Then I got Parkes data at the sam...

I dont understand this Immerge Error
Hi, I am trying to merge ATCA Data und Parkes Data at fits level. I have 2 Fits files, one from ATCA, one from Parkes. I tried to merge them using Immerge. I think I did everything to ensure they both fit together, but Immerge keeps saying: ### Fatal Error: Frequency could not be determined, in pbIn...

Re: CasaPy
Hello, Since I am using Casapy and am very fond of it, I also want to use it on ATCA CABB data. Heres what I did: miriad: Atlod to import into miriad. Flagging if necessary uvsplit to to convert it. fits to convert it into a uvfits file. options are out=uvfits, stokes=xx,yy,xy,yx options=nocal,nopol...
