Re: Superuniform weighting and CABB - avoid!
Hi all, Apologies for not posting to this forum when I first spoke with Tim Cornwell (who in turn spoke with Bob Sault) about what is going on with this issue (ahem...6 months ago). Below I reproduce some text from the ATLAS Data Release 2 draft manuscript (yet to be submitted to a journal), which i...

Problem Solved
Mark Calabretta looked into this issue and found that instead of using double-precision arithmetic, IMLIST uses single-precision arithmetic. The problem has now been fixed.

Re: IMLIST doesn't report mean or rms correctly
Hi Emil, Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. It appears that the problem is only taking place with reasonably large images. To test, simply take an image with say 5000 pixels on a side and calculate it's mean and rms using IMLIST (in=... options=statistics). A test image for this purpose can be created...

INVERT options=double problem for 64-bit source MIRIAD
Hi ATCA nerds, I sent the following email to Mark Calabretta on 11 May 2010. I have installed linux64 MIRIAD from source, and have modified MAXDIM to 32767 (I also increased MAXBUF to 64*1024*1024, though I don't think it's really necessary). My problem is that when I try to run invert on a single c...

IMLIST doesn't report mean or rms correctly
I notice that the task IMLIST does not correctly report the _mean_ and _rms_ of an image. I have checked this in 3 ways: * using the task HISTO; * using kvis and pressing "s"; and * dumping the pixel values using IMSTORE then taking their mean and rms manually. Only IMLIST gets a different...
