Re: CasaPy

Hi Sara,

I agree with Mark, check the content of the additional planes. If you don't have sufficient signal-to-noise then the Taylor terms may fit something a bit wild to the data and that could result in images that are not as good as if you just used a smaller number of terms.

Cheers,

Emil.

Re: Calibration of data with correlator block dropouts

Hi Craig,

Yes, I was thinking of something like uvspec or uvplt over a selected period of time. (Thanks Mark)

Cheers,

Emil.

Re: Calibration of data with correlator block dropouts

Hey Craig, I'm just thinking about what this would do to the data. I guess you could have a re-scaling as a result of the acal (although I would assume this would be quite small) or you may get a phase slope across the band if the delays (for whatever reason) changed between the two dcal set-ups. Th...

Re: Oscillations in 1934 spectrum after bandpass cal

Hi All, Yadda, yadda, yadda, final set of plots. Real data: Real4.png Simulated data: Sim4.png The main item of interest here is that antenna 6 baselines show very little ripple in the simulated data. The real data has a bit of ripple - this might be due to poor bandpass calibration as a result of r...

Hi All,

There is the third set of plots (sorry, phpBB wouldn't let me post more than 3 at a time).

Hi All,

Here is the second set of plots. Real data first:

Simulated data next:

Check out the ripple on baseline 3-4 ... not a bad match! :-)

Re: Oscillations in 1934 spectrum after bandpass cal

Hi All, Shane kindly provided me with the 1934-638 CABB data set that he used to make the plots above. What I did was keep everything in the file the same but replaced the visibility data with the "ideal" uv-model data from my deep difmap data set. Since 1934-638 can't be represented over ...

Re: Oscillations in 1934 spectrum after bandpass cal

Hi All, Just a quick update, I ran some simulations with my difmap models today and I do get similar ripples to what Shane was seeing and on the same baselines. I don't quite have the simulation right yet (it involves a bit of data hacking and so the side-by-side comparison is a bit difficult) but I...

Re: Oscillations in 1934 spectrum after bandpass cal

Hi Mark, Sorry ... I was in China when I saw Craig's email and didn't have my 1934-638 data set with me so that I could formulate a better-informed response :-( A really simple and quick check would be to generate an ideal simulated CABB data set based on the model that I created for the field (whic...
