SELFCAL produces bad gain table?

Post by and460 »

Hi guys,

I have a bunch of sources observed at 3cm that I ran through a normal calibration on, up to and including the secondary gain calibration. I then applied the cal to the sources with UVAVER. I now want to self calibrate.

I split two of the sources out of the master uv file. I ran selfcal on the first and get:

selfcal% inp
Task: selfcal
vis = ./lmc_s11.9000
select =
model = *wfmfs_postpsc*clmodi
clip = 0.1
interval = 0.5
nfbin = 4
options = phase,mmfs
minants =
refant =
flux =
offset =
line =
selfcal% go

selfcal: Revision 1.16, 2014/08/22 01:09:57 UTC

The task completes with no problems, with no indication that anything untoward happened. However, when I then try to image it (or run any other task on it), I get:

### Fatal Error: Gain table size is incorrect

I can't understand how MIRIAD could be complaining about an incorrect gain table size, given that all of the other calibrations have previously been applied using UVAVER. Even more strangely, I did exactly the same thing for the second source, and in this case I get no problems at all. Any ideas what might be going wrong here?

Cheers,
Craig.

Hi Craig,

I've seen this message before, but not with mmfs selfcal.
Try a mirsync (now that it is working again) and if you still get the same error afterwards put the data somewhere where I can have a look at it.

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark - this was fixed by a mirsync (and thanks for fixing my mirsync issue too!).
