1995 data reduction

Post by StacyMader »

Yes, you read right, HI data from 1995. Using standard atlod, uvsplit, pgflag, blflag is okay, but when I get to gpcal:

Code: Select all

gpcal: Revision 1.14, 2012/10/15 01:32:52 UTC

Applying bandpass corrections to ./1934-638.1420/
Number of antennae: 6
Reading the data ...
### Fatal Error: No data read from input file
There is clearly data there, and changing the interval does nothing. Is there something obvious I should do or look out for data this old (apart from throwing it and and reapplying for ATCA time  ?)

Hi Stacy,

You should not give up as it should definitely work for old data like this.

Could you please post the inputs you used for gpcal? And should that not prove enlightening, could you make the data available on kaputar somewhere? Thanks!
cheers

Hi Jamie,

With gpcal, I only set vis and interval to 0.1 and 10 (the latter to see what would happen). I've placed the file (minus +/- 200 chans removed with uvflag) of 1934-639 in /data/KAPUTAR_1/mad134/

Cheers,
Stacy.

Hi Stacy,

the 1995 spectral data only has XX and YY pols, so you could just do mfcal and skip gpcal, since it doesn't really do anything extra.
If you do want to run gpcal you need to specify options=nopol, noxy.

Cheers,

Mark

Ok, thanks for that Mark. That will teach me to keep my notes and look at the data first!
