Does CASA support ATCA pulsar binning mode?

Dear Mark,

I recently have been trying to reduce a pulsar binning mode ATCA data with CASA, but I did not find any related (pulsar binning mode) CASA command like "psrplt, psrfix, blablabla...". May I inquire whether casa has not been able to support the pulsar binning mode like "psrplt, psrfix"?

Many thanks
Best wishes
Yihan

Dear Yihan,

No, unfortunately, none of those tasks are available in CASA and I can't find much in the way of pulsar data processing software in CASA.
I think importatca will correctly load the data and you'll be able to calibrate it, but after that you'll have to use your own scripts to extract the data and do 'pulsar processing'.

The hires option can be used for data taking in binning mode to interpret it as short integrations.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Really appreciate your reply!
I have noticed the "hires" option in the command "importatca" and will try to play with the data first.

P.S. Yet they really should have included the psr binning mode commands in CASA as it is much more advanced. ;)

Many thanks
Best wishes
