Wide-Field Imaging and Spectral Index Correction

Hi All, I have been reading over the forum and found a few interesting posts regarding the correction for the spectral index and primary beam over the 2GHz band. Just to sum up and make sure I understand: When creating a wide-field image with the 2GHz band one would follow these steps: (0) Data has ...

LINMOS and Primary Beam Correction

I saw on the ATCA forum that in October 2012 there was a change to linmos: linmos now uses the correct frequency for the primary beam of each image, when combining images at different frequencies. What does this mean? I would like to make a wide-band wide-field image. If I apply the primary beam cor...

Re: Polarisation Calibration - CABB data

The ATCA CABB Polarization memo has been placed on the web at http://www.atnf.csiro.au/observers/memos/ The memo is number AT39.9_129 and can be found near the bottom of the page. This memo discusses splitting up the band into smaller frequency chunks to calibrate and what one can expect for on-axis...

Re: Polarisation Calibration - CABB data

I see that gpcal was upgraded to be able to solve for the leakages without having to split up the band. With nfbin>1, GPCAL writes additional tables 'gainsf' and 'leakagef' with solutions for frequency binned data. Not many other tasks currently read these tables, but they will be applied in prefere...

Re: 1934-638 Calibration Issue

Hi Mark, I ran uvpsec to look at the data and found something odd at the beginning of the 1934-638 scan. I don't think that this is RFI and maybe why I missed it before when I loaded the data with options=birdie, rfiflag in atlod. I flagged it out and we are back up and running. Thank you! Cheers, Ju...

1934-638 Calibration Issue

I am calibrating some CABB data from 2009 (500 MHz band) and I seem to have stumbled onto something odd. Below I have plotted the baseline pairs as a function of time and amplitude. The data is from IF2 (IF1 looks the same) and of XX (YY looks similar). The data is not averaged in frequency. This da...

Re: Really removing gain corrections

Would this also be required to use for leakage and bandpass?

gpcal

Hi, I am running gpcal on 1934-638 and my secondary calibrator 0400-319. I have 15 minutes of observations on 1934-638 (long story) and more on my secondary calibrator. The miriad user guide suggests using an interval of 0.1 minutes. Since I have 15 minutes of observations, is it OK to set my interv...
