Re: Does CASA support ATCA pulsar binning mode?

Hi Mark, Really appreciate your reply! I have noticed the "hires" option in the command "importatca" and will try to play with the data first. P.S. Yet they really should have included the psr binning mode commands in CASA as it is much more advanced. ;) Many thanks Best wishes Y...

Does CASA support ATCA pulsar binning mode?

Dear Mark, I recently have been trying to reduce a pulsar binning mode ATCA data with CASA, but I did not find any related (pulsar binning mode) CASA command like "psrplt, psrfix, blablabla...". May I inquire whether casa has not been able to support the pulsar binning mode like "psrp...

Imrm tricky things

hello, I recently found some tricky things about the rm and pa0 fitting. I used L, S, C, and X band data to fit the rm and pa0 for a source. I used the qcut=0.001, while the fitting often looks as poor as the attached image. That looks like some serious nπ ambiguity problems; while the final rm and ...

problems of "wedge" option in cgdisp

Hi, I am a Miriad user. I found something wrong with the cgdisp color bar after the update of miriad this time. If I want to use option "wedge" in cgdisp to show a color bar in the image, the whole cgdisp task will crash, and all the overlaying marks and color bar disappears. Otherwise, I ...

Hi Mark,

Thank you so much for your demonstration, I have got the idea.
Best,

Dirty beam inconsistent with the INVERT FWHM parameter?

Hi, I wish to plot a pulsar wind nebula and measure its flux density. During my process of “INVERT”, I set the uv tapering with a FWHM 20”x20”; however, the FWHM of the dirty beam model is around 15”x15”. May I inquire why the dirty beam size is inconsistent with the Fwhm set during “INVERT ”, and h...

Re: Rotating stripe in the image?

Hi, Mark.

I don't think the dedispersion process could work actually. I have manually selected data in this case.
Thank you again for your help. I would be happy to see if there is a solution to this problem in the future!

Best wishes

Re: Rotating stripe in the image?

:D Thanks, Mark. The pulse shows up. May I further inquire about how to modify the period of the pulsar in this dataset? I checked the header of data but did not find any information about the period or frequency of this pulsar. Or is it simply due to the task PSRPLT or others giving the wrong perio...

Rotating stripe in the image?

Hi, I planned to exclude the intense flux from the pulsar via pulsar binning mode. When I used PSRPLT to see the radio pulse profile of the pulsar, there was no pulse at all. However, the position of pulsar indeed has flux because a stripe can be seen in the image going through the pulsar's position...
