Re: difmap, CABB and modelling in the uv plane

Hi Tony,

I don't really know why my earlier attachment is no longer available. I'll try and upload it again.

Cheers,

Emil.

Re: Segmentation fault for kvis

Hi Mark,

That worked fine on El Capitan (well, once I remembered to update the symbolic link to the new binary).

Cheers,

Emil.

Re: Segmentation fault for kvis

I had the same problem and had to revert back to the previous version of XQuartz and then everything worked fine again.

Cheers,

Emil.

Re: Hue-intensity plots in kvis

OK, I managed to gather a bit more information about this. It seems that complete source code (from the original developer) and binaries are only available for 1.7.20 - some Linux binaries are available for the 1.7.25 (which has the hue-intensity functionality) but attempts to obtain the source code...

Re: Hue-intensity plots in kvis

Hi Bryan,

Actually, there is something odd here, I just noticed that a version running 1.7.25 under Linux seems to have this functionality but the binary for 1.7.25 is not available for the mac ... and the 1.7.20 flavour of kvis on the mac does not seem to have this feature :-(

Cheers,

Emil.

Re: Hue-intensity plots in kvis

Hi Bryan,

Do you mean the khuei tool? It's available in my 1.7.20 version of kvis (but not within kvis itself i.e. it is a separate tool shipped as part of the karma set of tools).

Cheers,

Emil.

Re: rms values from uvplt uvstat

Hi Jamie, I agree with everything you stated ... though the case I'm considering is when you start grouping visibilities. When averaging in time and/of frequency (which is what I believe Mike was doing since all his channels were effectively averaged together to look like one visibility) you end up ...

Re: ATCA primary beam width calculation

Hi all, I seem to recall looking into the Miriad code at one stage to work out what the effect of applying a single primary beam correction on a wide band data set might be. I believe the code used a multi term polynomial fit to the beam as described in the technical memo here (you need to find the ...

Re: rms values from uvplt uvstat

Actually Shane O'Sullivan and I both came to this conclusion after you left our office :-) I guess my question, based on what I believe Mike was doing, is why does the quoted RMS refer to individual frequency channels (if not using the nofqav option) when they appear to be averaged together when quo...

Re: CasaPy

Hi Sara, I'm going to sound like a parrot ... but once again I agree with Marks response. :-) With regards to (1) - I often check the rms of the residual image and look for artefacts there - that is a good guideline and it is a bit easier to wrap your mind around. It is also useful to look at the mo...
