Noise fluctuation when combining data in velocity space
Hi, In my 7mm spectral-line data (33.509 GHz), I see significant noise fluctuations across the band when I combine data sets in velocity space, following: standard calibration - uvlin (setting the 'line' parameter in channels) - puthd in=setX/restfreq value=33.509 - uvredo options=velocity velocity=...

Re: linmos problem
Hi Mark, Thanks for your quick reply. I did narrow the problem down quite a bit: Apparently linmos does not work properly on the mom0 image (created with 'moment'), but it does work properly on the data-cube that I give as input in 'moment'. So I can circumvent the problem by doing 'linmos' first an...

linmos problem
Hi, I tried to correct the primary beam for a set of WSRT (Westerbork) 1.4 GHz data using linmos. However, the correction seems way off -- at the 1.4 GHz of my observations, LINMOS calculates a primary beam FWHM of ~15 arcmin (something which I expect for ~3 GHz observations!) Note that a few months...

Problems with 'imstat': Fortran runtime error?
Hi, I am having problems running the miriad task 'imstat' properly. For spectral-line data, I cannot get the statistics in the spectral domain (which I assume require 'axes=RA,DEC' or something similar). For images, no summary is being calculated. The error I get in both occasions is: Axis 4 (STOKES...

Re: velsw not working
Thanks Jamie,
I suspect this it high priority for everyone doing HI work, given that the recorded data are in radio definition of velocity, while almost everything published in optical velocity. I will talk with Mark Calabretta about it.
Cheers,
Bjorn

velsw not working
I cannot use the task 'velsw' for a WSRT data set. When giving 'axis=optical, barycentre' I get the error: ### Fatal Error: Unrecognised conversion type, in coSpcSet and the header information in the file is not changed either Weird thing is that I did exactly the same thing with exactly the same dat...

Re: Uranus flux calibration
Jamie, do you know roughly how big this uncertainty in Uranus calibration -- is it more than the 30% flux error generally assumed for mm observing?
Also, are we sure that 1934-638 has a constant flux (at mm)? (Is it an idea to use several known calibrators for check-up?)
(great forum, thanks)
