Re: Inserting a fake extended radio source
Hi Mark, The problem is that I need to generate a fake radio halo(diffuse and extended) which does not have a gaussian profile. Unfortunately I do not have any image of this fake halo. My goal is to test that If I could recover any radio halo with the common brightness profile for detected radio hal...

Re: Inserting a fake extended radio source
Hi Mark,
Do you think it is possible to change the "uvsfit" task original code to be able to generate visibilities with an arbitrary brightness profile? Is there ant way I could ask Miriad team to provide such modified task?
Cheers,
Sara

Beam PA in CABB
Hello everyone, I've got a question regarding PA of the beam in CABB I have the ATCA CABB data which has 2GHz bandwidth. I've split it to 500MHz chunks and made the images. Each of the images has their own beam size which is understandable but they have different position angle. Please note that obs...

Matching resolution in CABB
Hi there, I'm imaging CABB data at 2.1GHz so I've decided to image them in 500MHz chunk to make mfclean tolerate the bandwidth. Now I need to match the resolution and use linmos to generate final 2GHz bandwidth. I'm using Convol to match the resolution of my 3 cleaned images with the lowest resoluti...

Re: Inserting a fake extended radio source
Hi Mark,
Do you know how I can eject a fake diffuse source with an arbitrary brightness profile (not a gaussian). I know the brightness profile equation.
Cheers,
Sara

Calibration error for CABB
Hi everyone,
I need to calculate the total flux error for my detected sources. I know the local rms noise but I need to have calibration error for CABB and pre-CABB to calculate the total flux error. Does anybody have any experience about this issue?
Cheers,
Sara

Re: Inserting a fake extended radio source
Hi Mark, I tried to use uvfit and uvsfit to model a point source first. I used exactly the same input arguments for both tasks. The image made after using uvfit has the same total flux I gave as input but the image made after using uvsfit has a random and different total flux from what I used as inp...

Re: Inserting a fake extended radio source
Thanks Mark,
Do I need to use uvmodel afterwards to add the output file made by uvsfit to my actual uvdata or I just need to image the output of the uvsfit?
Cheers,
Sara

Inserting a fake extended radio source
Hello everyone, I need to insert a fake extended radio source to one of my uv data which I already have reduced and calibrated. I don't know which task in Miriad I should use?? Do I need to use uvfit or imfit? I need this analysis for my PhD thesis. Can anyone help me get started? Any help is apprec...

Re: nfbin in gpcal
Hi Jamie, I re-installed and removed all the old PATH. I've got the latest version of gpcal which has the nfbin and pgflag now reports as :pgflag: Revision 1.19, 2012/07/05 02:15:58 UTC. I still have the same problem with pgflag. Are you sure that nothing has changed in pgflag. Key "v" dos...
