Selfcalibration after subtracting sources

Hello,

I have noticed that I lose the selfcalibration of a uv-data if I subtract components using the task UVMODEL.

The tricky part is that I subtract from the uv-data only the clean components of the image created by using only the longest baselines of my antenna array.
Then I image this new source-subtracted uv-data and when I use the clean components of this new image to self-calibrate, the solutions are not as good (some artifacts re-appear) as when
I self-calibrate the original uv-data .

Which clean components should I use to selfcalibrate the new uv-data?

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are trying to do, but the first thing to note is that uvmodel does not apply calibration before subtracting components. So the recommended strategy is to first apply the calibration with uvaver, then use the output from that for uvmodel. Hopefully you then don't have to selfcalibrate again, but if you do, it should start from the previous best solution.

Cheers,
