Is there a way of determining the mid-point of an observation in MJD, ideally with error-bars and/or the observation duration, using Miriad? It's something I've always just done manually but now have a much larger data-set so wondering how to automate it. If not MJD then what other options are there?
Many thanks
Catherine

Re: MJD and observation duration
Hi Catherine,
I don't think Miriad has such a task. I generally use uvindex to get a list of the observing times (including start and end) and work out the mid-point from there (in UT calendar date/time).
Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Mark, I was afraid you were going to say that! That is what I've always done before but a bit more labour-intensive that I'd have liked for this data-set. Oh well, worth a try!
It would certainly be a useful routine to have if anyone feels inspired, please!
Cheers
